The sardine run, an Hibiscus Coast attraction, is one of the world's greatest marine spectacles.
Between May and July, the calm waters off the coast become a hive of activity when the annual sardine run takes place. This mass pilchard migration transforms the sea into one of the greatest feeding frenzies on earth, as thousands of bottlenose dolphins, sharks, game fish and gulls feast on the migratory shoal.
And while our inviting stretch of Indian Ocean presents the year-round delights of frolicking dolphins and majestic, cruising whales, this enchantment peaks each June or July with 'The Greatest Shoal on Earth' - when we offer the best possible 'ringside' seats for one of nature's truly grand spectaculars. Where else can you marvel at 20-thousand dolphins, thousands of sharks, hundreds of fur seals, uncountable game fish and an armada of humpback whale - all herding and feeding from a millions-strong sardine shoal, while massed squadrons of sea birds, dive from above feasting till they drop? This may sound a bit fishy but our annual winter Sardine Run is a wonder of the world, attracting ever more attention from around the globe. Do you really want to miss it this year?
